When Miyoko's crafts their award-winning vegan butter, occasionally a little gets leftover to upcycle. So we used it to make this amazing vegan cookie, that's Miyoko approved!

What Is Okara?

Organic okara flour is a delicious and versatile superfood that provides superior nutrition with a neutral taste. Okara flour is a gluten-free flour that can be used on its own or in combination with other flour. Best of all, we craft the okara flour by upcycling the soybean pulp generated during soymilk production so it's better for the planet.

What Is Upcycling?

Upcycling is a trending word that refers to a practice that's been part of the universe forever* - letting nothing go to waste. In food, this means that we use every part of what is grown. That way, we don't waste any of the resources, like water, land, and energy, that were used to grow the food. Using everything that is grown is a critical piece of combating climate change since so much (food and thus energy) is currently wasted. Renewal Mill is particularly focused on the clean and nutrient-dense byproducts (or coproducts) that result when food is made at the manufacturing level. To use, the byproduct is a misnomer - it's really just another part of the bean/grain/fruit/vegetable that hasn't been discovered yet!
